Get All the Tax Help You Need At Your Library

Getting your tax documents prepared for filing and actually filing your taxes can be difficult for anyone. At the Porter County Public Library System, we want to help our library patrons any way we possibly can, which is why we provide tax services to the Porter County community every year during tax season. If you are looking for help, we encourage you to read the frequently asked questions on this page and be sure to contact your library branch for any additional information you need about our PCPLS tax services.

We are unable to offer in-person tax appointments this year due to COVID regulations affecting AARP services nationwide. PCPLS locations are scheduled to assist with filing assistance through VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), beginning around February 15. PCPLS will provide VITA tax packets for pickup, and completed packets must be returned to the Porter County United Way office (951 Eastport Centre Dr., Valparaiso, IN, 46383) for secure submission to the IRS. VITA volunteers can be contacted directly to assist with the packets: 219-464-3583 ext. 128.
Although library staff cannot provide tax advice or prep assistance, we are happy to provide federal tax forms as we receive them, and to print any tax forms you may need, for free! You may visit us in person or schedule a curbside pickup appointment by calling your nearest branch to get the forms you need.
