TITLE: Library Support Specialist-Facilities
REPORTS TO: Associate Director
WORK SCHEDULE: Part-Time, hours vary. Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.

The Library Support Specialist position is a hospitality and customer service oriented member of the management team. This position requires attention to detail and advanced critical thinking skills. The Library Support Specialist involves a combination of time spent in public services areas and branch operations. The Library Support Specialist is also expected to provide excellent customer service and assistance to all staff members, vendors, and community organizations both in person and on the phone, in accordance with library policies and performance standards.
POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Be responsive to Administration, staff and Board requests.
Basic custodial maintenance of all facilities.
SUPPORT SPECIALIST-FACILITIES SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as System Courier delivering materials and supplies to all five branches.
Provide minor repairs and support to facilities and staff as assigned by administration.
Provide assistance to Specialist 2 including painting, lawn care, snow removal, custodial duties, etc.
Assist with the physical security of library and its equipment.
Ensure library materials, service floor, and physical work areas meet and exceed presentation standards.
Maintain discipline and order in the library
Participate in professional meetings and workshops as assigned.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Facilities maintenance or construction trade experience required.
Ability to work with people of all ages.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.

Maintenance – Proficiency in the use of hand tools, heavy machinery, and maintenance equipment; has the ability to utilize computer systems to access complex programs for facilities management; communicates complex mechanical concepts in a clear and friendly manner; provides exceptional customer service to staff members including timely responses to maintenance concerns; works directly with management to identify areas of growth, opportunity, and innovation within the Library System.
PHYSICAL TASKS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Lift and/or move up to 100 lbs and have the ability to push or pull at least 200 lbs on wheels.
Extensive bending, stooping, pulling, reaching, kneeling, and crouching.
Regularly stand on a stool or ladder.
Must be proficient in the use of hand tools.
Operate technology equipment.
Operate maintenance equipment and heavy machinery.
Manual dexterity: Able to use hands and fingers to handle books, paper, and technology.
Exposure to dust, dirt, adhesives, and toner.
